Country-wide Gas Turbine turnkey solution: state of the art central monitoring facility system design, integration installation and training of a robust maintenance turbine maintenance monitoring solution to support 52 turbine engines, representing over 3.3 Gigawatts of generation capability.

GAS Turbine Remote Monitoring System (RMS)

The power industry in Iraq has been faced with the task of producing power on a consistent basis and improving availability of its existing plants. Wintara initiated a strategy to increase availability and reduce maintenance-costs for the aging gas turbine fleet. A key component was the capability to continuously remotely monitor from a central facility more than 200 gas turbine generator units that are located throughout Iraq.

Training Simulators

Wintara has a long track record providing effective set of training tools to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to enable the Minister of Electricity, Iraqi plant operators and maintenance staff to develop and maintain a high level of operational competency. Our new approach to Turbine Engine Training Simulators provides a multi-turbine and multi-control system technology in a single simulator to provide trainees hands-on experience with the specific type of control systems and gas turbines that they will be required to operate but without the risks involved in "on-the-job"/"on-the-turbine" training.

Historically, turbine simulators have been focused to a single OEM with a single turbine design and matching control system. This approach requires multiple simulators, each with an extremely high degree of complexity and fidelity, to support the Iraq's training needs. Our solution is an optimized approach that addresses start up and shut down under normal operating conditions, recognition of abnormal operating conditions and performing emergency shutdown to minimize damage, all for multiple turbine technologies and control systems. This approach enables management to produce more effective operators who will improve operational efficiency for the installed gas turbine systems and provide an overall increase in availability and reliability of the electrical grid.

Simulator integration of equipment and control systems includes GE TM2500 gas turbines with Woodward MicroNet and NetCon 5000 controllers; GE LM6000 gas turbines with Woodward MicroNet, MKVI Millennium and NetCon 5000 controllers; GE Frame 9E gas turbines with MKV controllers; and Siemens V64.3 and V94.3 gas turbines with Teleperm controllers.
